Junior Girls’ Soccer Team Competes at EOSSAA

On Tuesday May 28th, the Junior Girls Soccer team travelled to Kingston to compete in the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association Championship.  They met Frontenac in their first game of the day and suffered a hard 3-1 loss.  Outstanding play from the midfield of Sierra Molloy, Lydia Georgison, Sutherland Potter was unfortunately not enough to get the ball up to the forward line often enough.  Maddy McKittrick scored the team’s one goal of the game from a beautiful cross from Blake Callan and lots of help from Lily Burtch.  The loss and wet cold weather forced the girls inside until they battled Bishop’s in their second game of the day.  Defence stood out, shutting out Bishop’s offensive attacks until the last minute of play when Bishop’s was awarded a direct free kick at the top of the 18 yard box.  A bad bounce off of a defensive player gave Bishop’s the only score of the game and 1-0 loss for the CPHS Bears.  Despite bad weather, the competition was great and all CPHS players stepped up and made for amazing games.  This was a great way to end a winning season.
