CPHS XC Team Competes at Cold EOSSAA Meet in Kemptville

The 11 member CPHS XC Team gave it their all Thursday, October 25th at the EOSSAA Championship in Kemptville.

This meet, which sees more than 20 teams participating, featured competitors running the 4, 5, and 6km distances through the Ferguson Forest behind St.Michael C.H.S. Our only Midget Girl, Dale Kenny, ran a fantastic race coming in 3rd in her division. This outstanding performance earned her the right to travel to Hamilton to race at the all-Ontario meet (OFSAA) next weekend. Well done! The Junior Girls Team of Norah Massey, Skylar Etherington, Annika Culhane, Trinity Snedden, and Claire Chapman, all ran well capturing 3rd place in the Team Competition in their division. Our lone Senior runners, Akari Kishida and Cameron Ryan, both finished their 6k course turning in extremely solid runs in what turned out to be a very cold, windy day. Our Midget Boy runners, Alex Barkell, Ferran Mogus Ko, and Ethan Irvine, also braved the elements to turn in very respectable placings over their 5k distance. Well done boys!

As CPHS, a school with a ‘long track’ record in XC excellence (isn’t that right Mr. Dickie), is once again sending runners off to All-Ontarios next week, training will be extended. All team members are welcome to come out to the extra training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Watch the weather and come prepared!
