The CPHS Bears junior girls’ volleyball team faced cross-town rivals Notre Dame CHS in an exciting semi-final match. The Bears took the first set 25-16, which saw the girls come back from an early deficit. Notre Dame fought their way back in the second set and took the match 25-22, to tie the best of 5 match at one game apiece. Then, with the senior girls volleyball team and other fans cheering them on, the Bears took over and won the next two sets in commanding fashion 25-12 and 25-13 to win the semi-final game.

The Bears challenged a very talented PDCI Blue Devils squad Wednesday afternoon for Lanark County bragging rights. The girls brought their energy and focus, and went up early in the first set. The Blue Devils fought back and took the first set from the Bears. Determined to not back down, the Bears tried their hardest in the second set, but fell to the Blue Devils due to solid serves and some incredible hits. Down two sets, the girls played their finest set of volleyball to try and mount a comeback. Despite their absolute best efforts, the Bears were defeated in three sets.

The girls are commended on an incredible season, which saw them drop only three matches, all of which were to the PDCI Blue Devils. Over the season, the girls displayed great commitment to individual and team improvement. They were positive leaders on and off of the volleyball court. They brought energy and made the sesaon not only about competing for the Lanark County title, but about having fun and challenging themselves and one another to be better than where they started in October. A special thanks to Vishal Sheth, Alex Cox, and Kaylea Donahue for volunteering their time to help produce a talented team. Congratulations to the CPHS Bears junior girls volleyball team on an amazing season!
